Girls Guide to Laguna Beach

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 4.5 years and somehow I managed to never come to Laguna beach until this past year. Since I’ve gone in December I have now gone 5 times. I am clearly obsessed and I even most recently recommended to my friend coming to LA for the weekend to go to Laguna Beach instead of Malibu. Laguna beach is a little farther, an hour drive from LA but it is so worth it. One thing to note is in the summer Malibu and Santa Monica are pretty gloomy, but Laguna Beach seems to always have the sun shining. 🌞🦋🌊 Laguna Beach is a coastal city with charm. It’s small size makes it more of a community than LA and definitely gives it a more homey feeling to me. Here’s my guide of what to do on a weekend getaway to Laguna Beach!

Where to Stay:

Laguna Beach Lodge homey property in great location. Across the street from Treasure Island beach 🏝 This is an affordable option for your stay with beach access across the street at the Montage Laguna. Laguna Beach Lodge is the perfect beachy stay. The boutique hotel has a salt water heated pool, kitchenettes in all the rooms, beach chairs & towels, and immaculate jungle vibes. It’s also a short drive to the cutest downtown!

What to do:

Visit the flower shops: Snap a pic and buy some flowers at @brownesflowers.lagunabeach
Shop on Forest Ave 🛍 specifically my favorite boutiques: Tuvalu & Experience Divine Vibes.
Tuvalu is a cozy home shop with uniques finds, beautiful candles, cute dish towels, mugs and more. Purchase a piece of Laguna to add to your home!
@experiencedivinevibes for all the good vibes, they sell journals, crystals and even do sound baths!

Teresa Foglia- You will want to buy an expensive hat here. Located in the Arts Center, this hat store is art in itself. I took so many photos in this aesthetically pleasing store!
After shopping make sure to walk around Laguna and gaze at art in all the amazing Galleries 🖼 One of my favorite paintings I saw was this one of the presidents playing pool.

Spend a part of your day at the gorgeous beach. I recommend Treasure Island Beach. Walk along the water and take in all the stunning views! I haven’t been to Hawaii just yet but Laguna Beach reminds me of what Hawaii would look like. The views are unbeatable and you’ll want to keep exploring.

Sawdust Art Festival- This takes place in the summer and winer. I recommend if you’re in Laguna in the winter to be sure to go to Sawdust Art Festival. It was a winter fantasy with fake snow that felt so real, beautiful art work to buy all around the site, live music on site and even Santa Clause!

WhERE TO Eat:

Hotel Laguna: This spot had me saying Positano who? Lol. The beachy umbrellas and gorgeous views had me sold when I saw it online but when I got their it was even better. They have a DJ playing and the vibes were so energetic, everyone was in a great mood! I would definitely recommend.

Comedor at La Casa Del Camino Hotel: Have dinner at Comerdor Restaurant. Everything on this menu is amazing. It’s tapas style so be ready to share. Get the cheese plate and octopus.
@rumariitaliano amazing Italian food and lovely patio seating. Get the spicy pasta & don’t skip dessert!

Laguna Beach Coffee Co. might be my favorite cafe in all of California which is saying a lot! There is always a line so be ready, but that should tell you how great it is. The espresso here is made with house- roasted beans and it hits different than anything I’ve had in LA.

WhAT TO WEAR:

Laguna Beach is definitely more laid back style than Los Angeles and if you dress like you’re from LA people will probably notice. You’ll be in a swimsuit a majority of the trip but for walking around the shops and brunch I recommend casual fit of a flowy top and denim. For dinners you can dress up a little more, my favorite fits were the pink satin dress I wore to Hotel Laguna and the pink crochet set I wore for a post beach sunset walk.
