The Essence of Style by Joan DeJean

The Essence of Style was a book that my professor actually recommended to buy. I was studying a semester long course that ended with a two week toured trip to Paris. The fashion capital of the world. As I read page by page of this book my excitement to visit Paris for the first time grew more and more. Before, it was just the idea of seeing the Eiffel Tower at night that truly excited me. Learning the ins and outs on what Paris really had created for the fashion industry and everything I loved made me feel as if it was my destiny to someday live there. Truly, I felt more Parisian just by reading, which is obviously an amazing feeling. Paris truly is the Albert Einstein of everything I adore, high fashion, glamour, style, sophistication, champagne and of course where my heart lies, chic cafes. (Honestly though, my dream is to meet my future husband in a well decorated cafe, as I'm ordering my sought out very specified latte.) If you're ever going to Paris, or if you want a reason to want to go, The Essence of Style will take you there.

American Babe by Babe Walker

Although I probably fooled you, I am American. My heart surely belongs to Paris but this book makes me remember the perks of being an American babe. Babe Walker is flat out hilarious, and of course has impeccable style taste. If you're ever wondering what pieces are must haves in an ever changing lifestyle Babe will give them to you. She basically is the classiest yet sassiest bitch you'll ever meet. (I've unfortunately never actually met her) Also if you ever thought there was a chance you were a shopaholic she will totally make you feel at peace. If you haven't read her books I swear you're missing out. She has 3 so far, White Girl Problems, Psychos, & American Babe. This is the kind of book you stay up all night reading even though you have an extremely busy day in the morning. Don't say I didn't warn you.
