Girls Guide to Nantucket Island
Nantucket Island is one of my favorite places in Massachusetts and I dream to own property here someday. Nantucket is a charming island town 30 miles out to sea. This island encompasses pictursque beaches, cobblestone streets lined with high-end boutiques and amazing restaurants. The restaurants are all to die for with some of the most amazing seafood you’ll ever eat. A favorite summer destination for people all over the world, especially from Massachusetts where I was born and raised. I highly recommend planning your next summer trip to Nantucket, you won’t be disappointed.
When in Nantucket: Visit the galleries, stroll the lovely streets, shop the boutiques, head to the beach, dine at the many fabulous restaurants and rent a moped or ride bikes!
Where to stay: 21 Broad Hotel
There are many amazing options for hotels in Nantucket but my number one recommendation is 21 Broad boutique hotel. This modern and luxury boutique property is located in the buzzing center of town. Historic yet stylish, this place is my type of vibe! The front porch of the historic home is my favorite part of the property and I enjoyed reading and people watching here. The backyard has a stunning hydrangea garden and adorable European style seating where you can enjoy a bottle of wine.
21 Broad Hotel is a property of The New England Inns and Resorts Association (NEIRA) is a prestigious organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the unique charm and exceptional hospitality of New England's finest inns and resorts. NEIRA connects travelers with authentic New England experiences with the highest standards of service and local charm! Whether you’re seeking a cozy inn, a luxurious resort, or a charming boutique hotel, NEIRA showcases the best that New England hospitality has to offer.
Where to dine:
Company of the Cauldron: The Cauldron restaurant was an exquisite dinner experience with Michelin star chef Keller. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant makes guests feel like they’re dining in a Michelin star chefs home. The restaurant offers a different prix fixe menu every night, as if you were dining at a friends. We started with mouth watering popovers and ended with delectable surf & turf. They paired wines perfectly with each portion of the meal and ended with champagne with the dessert. Chef Thomas Keller is most famously known for The French Laundry restaurant in Yountville CA.
Galley Beach Restaurant: Chic level 10 beach-front fine dining experience, where you can have your feet in the sand during dinner.
Cru: The best happy hour spot with amazing oysters and stunning marina views.
Bar Yoshi: The best sushi I’ve ever had and a perfect easy spot for lunch after shopping. Located on the rocky alley with all my favorite shops is this gem of a spot with friendly waiters and marina views. I’ve come here every time I am on the island!
Dune Nantucket: Quintessential Nantucket restaurant with street seating or on the patio of what looks like a historic home. We enjoyed the oysters and yellowtail for our appetizers. For my main I had the highly recommended Halibut which is a menu staple for a very good reason!
Pizza Belly: come here for late night pizza and wine
Provisions: Great cafe with sandwiches and coffee located conveniently be the ferry.
Handlebar Coffee: My favorite coffee shop in town!
The Treehouse: Best spot to go out and have a night!
What to Do:
Shopping:
My favorite boutique is For Now Boutique. I got the cutest pair of heels with hydrangeas hand painted on them and earrings with light houses. I also adore It’s a Shore Thing it is an elegant gift shop where you're bound to find a souvenir for someone special.
Visit the Galleries
Coe & Co Gallery- My favorite gallery on the island, this gallery featured art by Stephen Wilkes. His “Day to Night” photograph had me mesmerized, the details were truly amazing!
Go out for Ice Cream:
One the island you’ll probably want to indulge with ice cream every night because The Juice Bar and Jack & Charlie’s have some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted.
Beach:
Jetties Beach and Steps Beach are the best beaches on the island! I highly recommend renting a moped as your method of transportation on the island to get to the beaches. Everything else is super walkable!
Visit Brant Point light house
Getting Here: If you’re from Massachusetts you know all about the ferry to Nantucket. Taking the Steamship Authority ferry to and from the Island from Cape Cod is the typical method of transportation for travelers and takes around 2 hours. My preferred way to arrive to the island is by Plane! The airport is so close to the town and an Uber is around $10! The flight from New York City is about an hour but the flight into Boston is only 30 minutes! This option is best to me because you don’t have to deal with a car and traffic on your way home from Cape Cod.
