Girls Guide to British Virgin Islands
This May we set out for the ultimate Girls Trip to Birtish Virgin Islands with Navigare Yachting. Navigare Yachting is a private yacht charter company with bases in 10 countries. Whether you want to explore British Virgin Islands in the Caribbeans or Greece in the Mediterranean they provide a curated experience for you and your guests. Our boat slept us and our crew members, the captain and chef. The price varies depending on your experience and chosen destinations but a trip with Navigare yachting can be cheaper than an all inclusive resort! I would highly recommend this experience for a bachelorette weekend, birthday celebration or a fun family vacation!
Our captain Jimmy took us away on a 5 day trip where we hit all of the most popular spots in British Virgin Islands. We all had never been here before so we agreed that our captain could be in charge to guide us to the best spots to see! However, if you do have specific spots you want to hit they will always cater to you to where you want to go! Our trip started sleeping on the boat at the marina and ended with us sleeping in the middle of the ocean next to a famous floating bar. I was pinching myself thinking is this real throughout the entire trip, it was seriously a dream come true and the most unforgettable experience.
When coming to BVI “the thing to do” is to Yacht around and hit as many islands as you can! Learning had me an awe because I have never vacationed like this. I like to consider myself well traveled but this experience was so unique to me and I was unsure about how much I would like at first. I had grown up frequently going on boats on lakes and oceans but had never imagined living on a boat for a week. It was so much more amazing than I even thought it would be! There’s really nothing quite like waking up right on the water.
We got to visit Virgin Gorda, Saba Rock, Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island. Here’s my guide to each of these beautiful, spectacular islands.
ViRgin Gorga
Virgin Gorda was our first stop on our itinerary. We docked at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor marina in Spanish Town. What I fell in love with here was the local coffee shop that shockingly served me an oat milk latte. It was the only time I found an oat milk latte on the island and it was phenomenal. Theres also a boutique here with beachy outfits, bikinis and fun jewelry if you find yourself wanting to shop.
Virgin Gorda is most famously know for The Baths which is a collection of massive granite boulders as large as 40 ft, with white sand beaches and secret rock pools. The gigantic granite boulders formed as a result of volcanoes! Located in Virgin Gorda it’s a popular daytime anchorage and ideal for swimming and snorkeling. This was my favorite excursion of the trip! We anchored our boat here all day and our captain doubled as a tour guide and took us all around The Baths showing us all it has to offer!
Fun Fact: Legend says that pirates once used the Baths hidden caves and narrow passages as a secret hideaway and smuggling route!
Last but not least you have to end your day in Virgin Gorda with dinner at CocoMaya on the beach. This stunning restaurant is an asian fusion restaurant serving delicious sushi and concocting the best island drinks. The twinkly lights all around the beach had my heart fluttering and wishing I could have a romantic date here!
SABA ROCK
If I could only go back to one spot In BVI I would chose Saba Rock. The boujee hotelier in me loved the fact that the entire island encompasses this stunning resort. One of the newest spots in BVI this resort has a dream restaurant and luxury accommodations. The chic bohemian design and stunning oceanfront views at the property has me itching to book another trip and stay here!
Another thing I loved about Saba Rock was The Viral “Jimmy Buffet” & puppy rum runner delivery right to your boat! The internet calls this man “Jimmy Buffett” because they look a lot alike but the kind man makes an amazing frozen mango rum runner and puts it into the cutest to go cup, making you feel like a kid again while sipping an alcohol beverage. We took our to go cups on the dinghy and headed over to the resort and it was a peak highlight of the trip for me.
Jost Van Dyke
I’d like to describe Jost Van Dyke as a quintessential Caribbean Island beach. With all the Caribbean colors from the white sandy beach, to the shimmering aquamarine water this island was flawless.
When visiting Jost Van Dyke you absolutely cannot miss going to Soggy Dollar beach bar. This is where the painkiller drink originated and Soggy Dollar coined its name for being a swim up island bar so when you get here all your dollars are soggy. Humorously enough I showed up to soggy dollar with boneless then a ripped $20 bill and could not stop laughing over it. The nicest security guard taped it perfectly back together for me and I realized that probably wasn't the first time that had happened. We had such a fun time here and seemingly everyone was on island time lounging on Adirondack chairs with the salty ocean breeze and yummy cocktails.
End your night on this island dancing away at Foxy’s bar. This bar was so much fun with a DJ playing all the 90s classic girly pop hits like dancing queen and hott in here.
NormaN Island
Our last stop of the trip was Norman Island. We spent the day in Norman Island snorkeling, seeing the sites and going to a famous bar.
We started our day at The Indians. The Indians are four rocky pinnacles that form abundant coral gardens underneath and known to be the best spot for snorkeling in the British Virgin Islands!
Right nearby we headed to The Caves where the Pirates of the Caribbean tale originated. It was scary going into this cave but we swam in and decided to look for treasure like our caption recommended! I was honestly so scared and grossed out by all the bugs in here but I did it!
When visiting BVI, you have to come to the famous & ROWDY Willy Ts. It’s literally a floating bar & restaurant in the middle of the ocean! You’re bound to have a blast and an unforgettable experience here, I promise.
A trip to British Virgin Islands is good for the soul and the best way to do it is with my friends at Navigare Yachting. You won’t regret booking this trip and sailing away in BVI! I’ll be dreaming of this experience until I’m back on board.
xoxo,
Jules
