Girls Guide to Denver, Colorado
A quick trip to Denver, Colorado! This was my first time ever in Colorado and I have got to say it was not what I was expecting. I took a quick trip here because to be honest on Instagram Colorado looks like THE winter destination spot for great snow day content. To my surprise it was much more of a city and less of a winter destination spot. The sun was hot and most of the snow was melted in the busy city so for the photos we had imagined we had to Uber 30 minutes outside of the city to Genessee Park. Next time I definitely will choose to go to Aspen for the full Colorado effect but I am happy I go to see a new city and play in the snow! ❄️
Where to Stay:
Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station was my choice of stay for the getaway. Hilton Garden Inn is centrally located in Denver and close to the best downtown attractions! A short walk to Union Station which is known to be the crown jewel of Denver: a historic landmark and destination for dining and shopping! The property address is The Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station located at 1999 Chestnut Place, Denver, CO 80202
Where to explore:
Genessee Park- We were looking for a snowy spot with gorgeous views and when we were recommended a few destinations close by we decided on this park. We were told that at this park you most likely see bison but sadly we only saw them from the car window on our drive home. Personally, I was hoping for some photos right next to them lol. The park had gorgeous mountain views and gave off a country town feel. I later learned is Golden, where the park is located, is a western town! There is saloons and country taverns like Cast Iron Tavern where we were recommended to go to for lunch! We had already had plans for lunch so we headed back to the city of Denver but I would highly recommend spending time in this fun country western town!
Union Station-Floral shops, book stores, great restaurants and more. Union Station is known to be the crown jewel of Denver. It’s a historic landmark and destination for dining and shopping! Make sure to get a drink at the art- deco Cooper Lounge, located on the mezzanine with stunning views.
Milk Market- A historic food hall which is cornerstone of the historic Dairy Block. A go to destination for travelers to shop, eat and drink!
RiNo, River North Art District- Another neighborhood to see of Denver is also RiNo. This is a trendy area of Denver with contemporary art galleries and colorful murals.
Where to Eat:
Chez Maggy- In true Parisian form I love a long French dinner during each and every trip I go on. This stunning restaurant in Denver is a traditional French brasserie with exceptional service. The items on the menu were intriguing, including my personal choice a caviar omelet. For dinner when I was living in France I ate a lot of savory egg and cheese crepes for dinner and this omelet reminded me of those days. I highly recommend starting with the baguette and butter. The butter is Rodolphe le Meunier Butter from Normandy, which if you know food you know is the best tasting butter in the world. It’s so nice that we live in a world where we can get European food in the states. We also got the crab cakes to share and the Vanilla Napoleon for dessert, everything was so tasty.
Reynard Social- After dinner we went upstairs to the cocktail bar that is also in the Thompson Hotel. Reynard Social is a gorgeous indoor cocktail lounge with stunning city views and chic modern white interior. The cocktails were unique and intriguing, and the names of the cocktails were so fun. I ordered the In the Clouds even though I wanted to get the Cozy Camper just based on the name!
Deep Roots Winery- This winery and brewery is in the heart of RiNo and what I imagine to be the weekend spot for people in their twenties in Denver. We loved it here even on a weekday! There were some friends meeting for happy hour, couples meeting for date night and even a Galentines paint night table being prepared! We got the charcuterie board and truffle sweet potato fries which were to die for. I also got a white wine flight and got to meet the sommelier who made the wines! It was a great experience and a must visit in Denver.
Le Bilboquet- Another epic French restaurant that you can find in NYC and The Hamptons as well. I first learned about this spot from it being a popular hamptons spot and I can see why. It’s elite af and the food was amazing. I highly recommend!
Overall I had a great trip to Denver but next time I hit Colorado will definitely be going to a snowy cabin spot instead!
xoxo,
Jules
