Girls Guide to Newport, Rhode Island

Newport is a charming historic beach town and has a piece of my heart. Named the most walkable city, escape to this picturesque town and walk down cobblestone streets and see gorgeous historic sights.

Where to stay:

The Cliffside Inn is a gorgeous, sophisticated inn by Lark Hotels! It’s right across the street from the Cliff Walk with gorgeous views of the water. There are fireplaces in each room and a fire pit on the lawn outside of the inn. They serve breakfast every morning, afternoon tea, as well as wine and hors d'oeuvres receptions. Enjoy your food in the gorgeous antique 1876 mansion. Request the iconic Tower Suite at The Cliffside Inn to feel like renaissance royalty.

The Attwater is another inn by Lark Hotels. The colorful designed boutique hotel is a much different vibe than The Cliffside Inn. It is right across the street from the Newport Art Museum and a 5-minute walk from the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum and La Forge Casino Restaurant.

What to do:

• Explore the Cliff Walk: feel ultimate serenity as you gaze at the panoramic ocean views, hear the crashing waves, and walk by Gilded Age mansions.

• Bellevue Avenue is where these mansions are and some of the mansions are now museums.

• Visit my personal favorite and the most famous museum The Breakers. It is an 1895 mansion patterned after a Renaissance palace, and fun fact: was built because of the jealously between sister and laws.

• Catch the sunset at Bowens Wharf Marina.

• Shop on Thames Street + Bannisters Wharf. Go to the flagship Kiel James Patrick store here.

•Head to Taylor swift’s house, 16 Bluff Avenue, but don’t tell her I told you

Where to eat:

Clarke Cooke House I would come all the way to Newport for this Rhode Island style clam chowder. They make it with no heavy cream and extra dill! It’s my favorite! It’s also right on Bowens Wharf Marina.

Midtown Oyster Bar fresh sea food, great cod chowder, amazing daily specials

Diegos Newport epic tequila bar with fun bartenders and great vibes.

Kaffeology get an iced vanilla chai tea latte

Brick Alley Pub landmark restaurant with fresh tasty food, this spot was the most frequently recommended in Newport.

La Forge Newport this restaurant is iconically located right on a tennis court. Dine here in the spring or summer as you watch the players play.

Il Forno- I called the first pizza place in Newport to see if they could make me a Valentine’s Day pizza and they said Yes! Not only was it a perfect heart but it was also an amazingly tasting pizza! The vibes inside were nothing special but I highly recommend take out here!

Newport, RI is a great place to visit especially in the Spring and Summer but I loved our little winter getaway here too!

xoxo,
